Principal Security Engineer - Microsoft

Microsoft’s Intelligence Platform engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like Power BI, Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Explorer. We will bring the world’s data to the Microsoft Cloud, power a new class of data first applications, and empower everyone on the planet to make better decisions with data.

The Intelligence Platform security team safeguards the data of millions of users in one of Microsoft’s fastest growing SaaS platforms. With both defensive and offensive security experts we discover, investigate, and fix complex security issues at cloud scale.

We are looking for people with a passion for security engineering and experience working with all aspects of high throughput and multi-tenant services.

Responsibilities include: 

• Drive broad security initiatives across dozens of services.
• Devise new methods to systematically detect vulnerabilities at scale.
• Keep up to date on the security needs of our customers and translate those into service requirements.
• Demonstrate leadership by mentoring engineers, setting technical direction and priorities for the team.
• Use subject matter expertise to identify potential security issues, tools, mitigations, and processes.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience driving security initiatives across organizations.
• 6+ years of experience with the development lifecycle from implementation to production release.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing security code reviews of managed and unmanaged components.
• Experience building tools to identify security vulnerabilities in cloud infrastructure.
• Public track record of relevant security research, especially around vulnerability discovery.
• Strong technical foundation and general knowledge of related Microsoft technologies including AAD, Azure, and competitor enterprise offerings.
