Front-end Engineering Manager - Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) - Microsoft

Azure Data Explorer is Azure’s Big-Data Analytics service. It enables interactive querying and exploration of huge data sets.

Although fairly young, Azure Data Explorer has already been extensively adopted internally for all log-analytics needs and is growing exponentially on the external market as well.ADX (Azure Data Explorer) is already indexing more than 100 PB (petabytes) of data every day.ADX Web Explorer is the UX through which our customers interact with Azure Data Explorer. Through our web-based Single-page-app they send their data to ADX, author their queries, visualize the results, and create dashboards to share with their team.

On ADX Web UX team, we strive to create a UX for interacting with, visualizing, and working with big data which is the best-of-breed in the industry.

We are looking for a technically strong and motivated person to lead ADX Web UX team, developers to help us continue driving the Kusto revolution on the planet and make it THE technology for log search and text analytics.

• Lead the ADX Web UX team across geographies (ILDC and Redmond), build, coach, and mentor the team
• Deliver the best of breed tailored UX experience for world-class Big Data analytics service
• Lead by example, driving customer obsession and technological innovation
• Influence the way data is visualized across the multiple facets – query, dashboards
• Drive welcoming and intuitive assisted flows to inspire and unblock new customers
• Partner and work collaboratively with other disciplines and teams to deliver complex, large-scale customer-oriented experiences
• Interact directly with customers and incorporate their feedback into product planning

• Excellent leadership and personal skills
• B.A. / B. Sc. in Computer Science or a related field
• 2+ years of experience leading a software development team
• 6+ years of experience in hands-on software engineering
• Strong JavaScript/Typescript skills
• Solid understanding of modern web tech stack, e.g., React, Angular, Vue, Redux, Mobx, Webpack, Yarn, Lerna
• Passion for building responsive, performant, accessible, and internationalized experiences
• Strong technical skills: you can write robust and maintainable code, you perform quality code-reviews, you know how to analyze performance in browsers, you have great debugging skills
• Autonomous and pushing things to completion

Preferred Qualifications/Attributes

• Familiarity with Azure Data Explorer or other NoSQL DB technologies / data analytics solutions
• Familiarity with Azure cloud and cloud services
• Familiarity with C# programming language
• Own your code through production
• Curious about reliability and performance, up and down the stack
