About this job

The Azure IoT team is looking for a highly motivated and talented engineer to help us design and deliver the next generation of Azure IoT services across the cloud and the edge. Candidates will help architect and deliver cross platform solution. Candidates will enable massive scale, stateful cloud and edge applications that are self-managing and can be operated with ease in public or private datacenters around the world, enable secure interconnection for millions of devices to and from the cloud, develop distributed systems capable of scaling to millions of transactions per second at sub-second latencies. We are looking for a principal level engineer with strong architectural experience, solid problem solving, design, coding and debugging skills, drive for execution and results, while delivering quality software for large scale projects. We value passion, creativity, desire to learn new complex technical areas, agility and accountability. 

Our technology stack:

  • Linux and service fabric VM’s on Azure
  • C# .Net, Node.js, GoLang, Rust development languages
  • CosmosDB, Postgres data storage
  • Kubernetes container orchestration for Docker container microservices
  • Design, build, and maintain services with millions of devices, operating in multiple global regions
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to deliver on the IoT Azure vision
  • Continually seek deeper insights into the performance and scalability of our systems
  • Improve service reliability, performance and latency
  • Help lower the COGs of our services so that we can pass those savings on to our customers and improve our margins

Required Qualifications

  • Do you have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python or equivalent experience?

Preferred Qualifications / Attributes

  • Proficient in software design and coding
  • A track record of architecting and developing large scale complex systems on Azure
  • Strong ability to communicate ideas and designs to other team members and management
  • Experience owning your code through production
  • Curious about reliability and performance, up and down the stack
  • Microservices development, deployment, and monitoring
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration
  • Efficient, tenacious debugging skills using logs and metrics
