Software Engineer II, Threat Defense Engineering

We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer who is passionate about security, cyber defense, and software development. You will be responsible for contributing to cyber defense and detection engineering in support of the security monitoring program.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain security services and detections at scale
  • Collaborate with partner organizations to help elevate our security protections and practices
  • Adhere to and drive modern engineering practices with a focus on automation and collaboration
  • Support DevOps practices and an on-call rotation 

Basic Requirements: 

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience working on high availability systemswith one or more of the following scripting languages  KQL, PowerShell and Python. 
  • At least 1 year experience working with data pipeline solutions, including a variety of enterprise security data sources
  • The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred, not required:

  • Experience with various Azure (or other cloud services) offerings
  • Testing mindset, before beginning solution or development
  • Experience working KQL or other related query technologiesBackground in security related technologies and/or knowledge of security information and event management (SIEM) technologies
  • Knowledge of software development best practices
  • Experience working with US government agencies

US Citizenship: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.

Cloud Screening: Candidates must be able to successfully complete and pass a Microsoft Cloud background screening. Required Cloud Screenings will be administered on a recurring bi-annual basis.

Candidates selected for this position may have to comply with Federal Executive Order 14042 mandating that federal contractors and subcontractors receive the COVID-19 vaccine by being fully vaccinated before their date of hire, or work with Microsoft to receive an approved religious or medical accommodation.

The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting an operational security operations center and will be excited about helping evolve the next generation of security technologies. They will be able to engage with partner orgs to help create solutions that meet demanding enterprise scale requirements. And finally, they will be excited to be part of a development team and look for opportunities to help those around them grow in expertise.
