Senior Design Program Manager, CxD - Microsoft

We're looking for atalented Senior Design Producer/Program Manager to help create well-crafted experiences that connect the world. As part of the Design Ops team for Collaboration Experience Design (CxD), you will play a critical role in the design and development of some of Microsoft's most important products. From Teams to SharePoint to Viva and more, you will act as the glue that keeps our design studio running smoothly.

Your work will span web, desktop, and mobile. You’llget into the weeds with interaction designers, user researchers, engineers, product managers, executive leadership, and more. You willparticipate inthe end-to-end design process, scheduling and driving work from ideation and experimentation through to interaction design, visual design, copy writing, motion design, executive review, hand off to the engineering team, and quality control during implementation.In short, you will make sure the right designersare working on the right stuff, at the right time,and with the right visibility.

• Maximize the Design team’s impact. Scope and triage requests from Product Managers and Engineering partners to protect our team’s time, while enabling the designers to be as efficient and effective as possible.
• Identify opportunities for alignment in both strategic goals and tactical design choices, and make the connections happen, saving time and creating a better experience in the process.
• Build trust with our partners, and within the Design team. Manage design backlogs and sprints in a highly visible way, to give stakeholders confidence that their needs are being met, and to help Designers know what to focus on. 

• Own the inward, outward, and upward communications of the Design team. Craft communications and meetings appropriately based on the audience, from Business stakeholders, to Engineering, to Product and Company Leadership. Coordinate design work across multiple locations and time zones.
• Continuously improve the design process. Optimize project management practices, design workflow tools, and communication methods to increase the quality of the Design team’s work.
• Advocate for the Design team’s point of view when working with partners. Evangelize the importance of design thinking during the entire product development cycle.

• A minimum of BA/BS in Computer Science, User Interface Design, Visual Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Business, Project Management, or a related field, OR significant industry experience.

• 5+ years of industry experience shipping polished digital experiences, ideally spanning web, desktop, and mobile environments.
• Experience working with a large design team.
• A proven track record of managing projects, driving tight collaboration and negotiating with multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Passion for shipping world-class user experiences, with a history of advocating for Design.
