Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager - Microsoft

The Capacity Supply Chain and Provisioning (CSCP) team is an exciting and fast-evolving part of the Azure group at Microsoft. Our vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering cloud capacity differentiated at scale. The organization is responsible for planning, delivery and provision of hardware and supplies for data centers powering Microsoft cloud properties. CSCP supports over 200 online businesses including Bing, O365, OneDrive, Xbox and Windows Azure branded services.

Cloud Sourcing and Supply Chain (CSSC) organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers. Well-defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable on-time performance, optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. We are looking for a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager to help build sustainable advantages through the supply chain.

The role of the Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager will focus on the following key areas:

• Define and establish Microsoft’s Network Sourcing strategy for datacenter switch hardware, silicon, and software to drive competitive advantages for Microsoft cloud offerings
• Early engagement with our suppliers, network architecture and engineering teams to identify optimization opportunities and drive product solutions around design for availability and total cost of ownership (TCO)
• Establishment of appropriate sourcing strategy with relevant partners to drive long-term goals of Technology Adoption, Continuity of Supply (COS), Cost, Quality, Business Health, and Sustainability
• Provide thought leadership and manage strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support cloud supply chain objectives and strategies
• Engage with cross- functional leadership including Network architecture, engineering, quality, and business teams to determine best design solution and supply base to deliver that solution at optimal Supply Chain (SC), COS, and cost.
• Own the Datacenter Switch technical sourcing process, partnering with product engineering teams on high visibility technology developments and delivery of innovative solutions
• Build multi-sourcing strategies to mitigate risk and drive appropriate competition.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and drive supplier competition with cost modelling and other sourcing tools.
• Run weekly, monthly, quarter review with team on cost and operations Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Continuous improvement of all critical areas around supply, manufacturing, cost, etc.
• Manage supplier performance and compliance
• Develop and enable new suppliers
• Ensure supplier compliance with MSFT security and social responsibility requirements
• Conduct Executive Business Review discussions
• Ensure on time supplier delivery of corrective actions from business review / audits
• Support and meet business cost metrics through the development process

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
  •  OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
  • OR equivalent experience.

• 3+ years of experience in datacenter switching hardware
• 4+ years of experience in technical sourcing, business development, field application engineering, sales, product line management, or in related fields

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 6+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
  • OR equivalent experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Sourcing Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year.
