We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a diverse team to help us build the next generation gaming ecosystem for both, gamers and creators.

The Growth, Engagement and Monetization (GEM) team within GEO has the goal to deliver the world’s best gaming store experiences to connect gamers and users to their favorite content, and empower Game Creators to be successful, from Xbox to PC to mobile and cloud. 

More on our mission: Modern games, and the gaming ecosystem overall, are only getting larger and more complex. To push ever higher with great interactive content, game studios need rich and flexible store experiences to reach out and expand their audiences in the gaming community. You will help craft the user experience of our gaming storefronts to empower game creators to display their games and content in new and novel ways in the console (Xbox), PC, web, mobile, cloud and in the games themselves. You will also work closely with industry leaders across hardware, software, and services, including game studios and Microsoft Gaming Partners. You will be a key part of the evolution and innovation taking place in our Gaming Storefronts.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about building high quality reliable applications and experiences for our Xbox ecosystem that delightfully engage our gamers and help them connect with the content they love.  As an engineer in our team, you’ll be working on improving and innovating our storefronts on multiple platforms. Addressing the growing needs of our gaming community, and using state-of-the-art technologies to help surface relevant content from our Microsoft Gaming first party & second party studios, as well as 3rd Party & Partner Studios.

  • Key responsibilities

    ·       As a member of the team, you will use your social skills to collaborate with internal and external developers and partners.

    ·       You will design, build, test, debug and ship high quality code that is used by 100s of millions of users. 

    ·       Develop new and intuitive online experiences across our multiple platforms (Xbox consoles, web, Xbox (PC) App, mobile) to delight our users.

    ·       You will have the opportunity to solve complex problems that allow for innovative features across multiple devices and services.

    ·       You will be an active participant in a community of creativity, inclusion, and respect. 

    ·       You will be part of a world-class engineering team dedicated to the delivery of highly available and reliable 24x7 experiences and services for our millions of users in the gaming community and beyond.

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years building Web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, React.js and/or other web development frameworks

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with one or more of Kubernetes, Linux, Azure, or AWS 

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
