We are seeking a Senior Compliance Manager to lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of human rights controlsframework in our data center supply chain. As the Senior Compliance Manager, you will play a role in the supplier’s lifecycle by seeking innovative and effective approaches to identify, assess and mitigate risk. You will establish and oversee the Human Rights Compliance Program and work to ensure suppliers are compliant with global laws and Microsoft standards. You will partner with teams across the Business, as well as other organizations within Microsoft including Corporate Supply Chain Integrity, Business Operations, and CO+I Supplier Assurance to drive and incorporate best practices.   

You will continue to advance the Business compliance governance framework and monitoring mechanisms, and partner with business teams to accelerate transparency and drive continuous improvement partner with teams across CO+I, as well as other organizations within Microsoft to drive and incorporate best practices.   

The Senior Compliance Manager should understand the criticality of compliance to Microsoft's success and have experience designing and implementing various compliance controls across large and complex organizations. This individual should be organized, self-motivated, have an attention to detail, and robust communication skills to help build and execute initiatives that ensure compliance in a fast-paced and ambiguous organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead development, implementation, and monitoring of human rights, environmental, ethical business practices, and health and safety management risk assessment framework.
  • Drive the completion of human rights controls in line with Microsoft’s and CO+I’s controls framework and contractual obligations.
  • Advance compliance strategy and programs focused on responsible, fair, and ethical supply chain management with partners internally and externally, by developing and implementing compliance processes and procedures within the supplier eco-system.
  • Develop a management system covering the supplier ecosystem that meets global regulatory standards and covering risk areas.
  • Develop and standardize Business compliance policies, and partner with stakeholders on industry standards, develop and monitor KPIs/metrics for Business in the areas of supply chain human rights, environmental compliance, ethical business practices, and health and safety management.
  • Drive development and advancement of key tools needed to scale programs.
  • Contribute to the development of key external partnerships and positions in collaboration with the Corporate Supply Chain Integrity team.
  • Collaborate with Corporate and cross-Microsoft business teams including Corporate Supply Chain Integrity, business development, procurement, supplier management, legal, quality, reliability, security, sustainability and public relations.
  • Evaluate and advise executive management on emerging regulations, supply chain risks and social trends.
  • Gain stakeholder alignment through strong storytelling (influencing for impact).
  • Develop clear, high-quality, well-documented processes that exceed industry benchmarks.
  • Create, facilitate and deliver impactful trainings for 3rd parties on human rights compliance obligations.
  • Drive development and advancement of key tools needed to scale program.
  • Analyze 3rd party due diligence reports and provide evaluation with appropriate risk mitigations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and human rights subject matter expert for the organization.
  • Assess for continuous improvement and ensure effectiveness of controls for proactive risk management.
  • Build relationships for effective collaboration with stakeholders across the company.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Business, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in business, legal/regulatory, compliance, audit/consulting firm
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Business, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years experience in business, legal/regulatory, compliance, audit/consulting firm
    • OR Master's Degree in Science, Business, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in business, legal/regulatory, compliance, audit/consulting firm
    • OR Juris Doctor (JD) Degree AND 7+ years experience in business, legal/regulatory, compliance, audit/consulting firm
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Relevant Certification (e.g., International Organization for Standardization [ISO] Lead Auditor, International Association of Privacy Professionals [IAPP], Certified Public Accountant [CPA], Certified Information Privacy Professional [CIPP]).

Compliance IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.   • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
