Senior Software Engineer - Microsoft

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Software Engineer on the Mixed Reality Cloud Team. We are working on several projects for current and future Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) hardware that span devices and cloud services and include integrating with existing Azure services, network optimization, operating system integration, and building an engineering system that's delightful for engineers and release managers to use. We are looking for someone with a background and passion in some or all of these areas or is self-motivated to dive in and learn as they go.

• Working in close partnership with a team of diverse and talented peers in various disciplines including Design, hardware, Program Management, and Software Development for sustained long term success 
• Partnering with your peers and technical leadership to deliver solid technical designs 
• Maintaining an unwavering focus on our customers and the value you can deliver to them 
• Closely collaborating with partner teams when engineering & business dependencies exist 
• Owning accurate costing for your engineering activities, and executing with high accountability to schedule and quality 
• Working on all aspects of Software Development including design, implementation, testing, compliance, maintenance, documentation, and delivery
• Mentoring other developers and sharing expertise throughout our team 
• You are expected to be a self-starter, capable of solving ambiguous and challenging technical problems with wide scope 
• You will have the opportunity to work with new technologies on a diverse range of cutting-edge hardware platforms

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of software development and debugging experience with C# or C++ for Windows or Android applications or platforms.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#
• OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#
• OR equivalent experience.

• Experience in Windows platform or Shell infrastructure, ideally targeting HoleLens or other Windows Mixed Reality devices
• Integrated native PC and device-hosted applications with large-scale Cloud services
• Work in a team environment on a shared code base 
• Developed high quality solutions for technical challenges 

• Desirable expertise in, experience with or passionate about:

• Managing the creation, scaling, and efficiency of Azure DevOps-based build infrastructure
• Monitoring product source repositories and products for compliance with company-wide security and shipping requirements. Provide guidance to product teams as new requirements are added or when issues arise
• Writing performance-critical code, conducting performance analysis and optimization 
• Developing and integrating end-to-end compliant customer feedback and telemetry systems

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
