Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I DC Operations Analyst, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. As a SeniorDatacenterOperations Analyst, your top goals will be to develop and mature various staffing-related data models by working across a large, diverse sets of data to gain a deeper understanding of support drivers for future capacity needs across our worldwide Datacenter Services Teams.

As a SeniorDatacenterOperations Analyst,your success is measured by:

Data-Driven Analysis

  • Develop & implement analytical models that establish an improved data-driven understanding of our Datacenter Operations worldwide, driving continuous improvements, and informed staffing decisions
  • Analyze and interpret data to provide recommendations and insights into datacenter-related staffing models, support, and capacity demand drivers
  • Collaborate and engage with subject matter experts to gain operational insight into building analytical models leveraging real-life experiences
  • Use standard and ad-hoc reporting methods to gather and consolidate pertinent data to run resource modeling scenarios
  • Provide support and sustained development for internal data infrastructure leveraged by DC Operations
  • Participate in technical communities to stay informed of best practices and changes within the broader discipline and share them with the organization

Operational Excellence:

  • Serve as subject matter expert and model compliance to junior team members.
  • Drive consistency in processes and services to align with defined policies and procedures to meet expectations for accuracy and timeliness of delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to influence workstreams towards a more simplified and/or automated approach by evolving processes, services, and solutions to increase efficiency and manage costs.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data modeling, analytics and statistics
  • 3+ years of experience in SQL, SQL Server Analysis Services, OLAP, DAX and MDX

While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Proficient with SQL Server Analysis Services, OLAP, DAX and MDX
  • Data visualization experience using platforms like Power BI, Excel
  • R and/or Python programming experience
  • Experience analyzing big data to drive business decisions

Background Check Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.
