Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. The mission of Field Operations Assurance is to represent CO+I and support Operations Management with integrity and transparency, and to empower managers by equipping them with the means to maintain ongoing readiness and operational efficiency through standardization, automation, assessment, reporting, and data-driven action tracking and resolution.

The purpose of this role

As a Regional Operations Assurance Manager, your success will be measured by:

Governance

  • Use understanding of policies, laws, and regulations to make own judgments to meet business need. May interpret the information to protect Microsoft and customers and move the business forward.
  • Identify and escalate non-conformance.
  • Set individual program guidelines at an organization level based on corporate policies and guidelines.
  • Begin to serve as an indirect supervisor as needed.

Strategies, Processes, and Tools

  • Develop a strategy and process around the compliance programs independently.
  • Monitor the Resolution of Resiliency Assessment and Tabletop Exercise action items at site level.
  • Use best judgment to anticipate new areas of focus that are needed based on the risk environment and ecosystem.
  • Run existing tools independently and provide minimal feedback on tweaks or additional features to the tool.
  • Administer user set-ups and configurations.
  • Provide requirements for building out tools and processes needed to develop products and programs that are market-leading in compliance independently.

Controls

  • Define controls by identifying potential failure points.
  • Ensure routine and complex issues are fixed during the design process independently and implements controls.
  • Support Control Monitoring performance and remediation (Control Review, Control Definition, Remediation Tracking).
  • Test controls to determine if controls are effective independently and use best judgment to identify areas to improve the controls. Make suggestions on how to adjust the design.

Consult/Advise/Educate

  • Collaborate across teams to ensure communication and application of the same regulations and standards. Advise whether products, processes, programs, etc., are compliant.
  • Manage alignment with Regional DC Resiliency Assessment Program Preparation and Execution Educates teams on compliance requirements.
  • Interpret complex language and security requirements and translate that into meaningful and comprehensive communication to other teams.
  • Review results, informal assessments, and monitor compliance for teams.
  • Manage alignment with Regional DC Resiliency Assessment Program Preparation and Execution.
  • Translate compliance standards and processes into a relatable form for across multiple teams.

Assessments/Audits/Certifications

  • Conduct routine and complex assessment/audit projects independently including assessing and reviewing documentation for an internal team at Microsoft; track and monitor results.
  • Support ongoing readiness and Audit Preparation (All applicable audits within Region – SSAE-16, FISMA, FEDRAMP, etc.). Analyze this information to understand what stakeholders can do differently and collaborate with team to remediate gaps. Leverage customer feedback that has not been addressed to ensure its inclusion. Collaborate across the company on how processes and standards are implemented.
  • Drive efficiency and scalability for programs.
  • Provide input for internal teams in preparation for upcoming external audits, or to ensure readiness in case of such audits.

Reporting

  • Develop and report compliance metrics and audit issues for internal and external reporting.
  • Consult on remediation for reports.
  • Manage regional reporting and participation in mandatory MS Security and Compliance Training (Tracking & Reporting).

For this role, you are welcome to apply if you meet the following Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Business, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years’ experience in business, legal/regulatory, compliance, audit/consulting firm
    • OR equivalent experience.

While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Business, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years’ experience in business, legal/regulatory, compliance, audit/consulting firm
    • OR Master's Degree in Science, Business, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years’ experience in business, legal/regulatory, compliance, audit/consulting firm
    • OR Juris Doctor (JD) Degree AND 5+ years’ experience in business, legal/regulatory, compliance, audit/consulting firm
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Relevant Certification (e.g., International Organization for Standardization [ISO] Lead Auditor, International Association of Privacy Professionals [IAPP], Certified Public Accountant [CPA], Certified Information Privacy Professional [CIPP], Project Management Professional [PMP]).
  • Ability and understanding of budgetary and financial processes.
  • Experience working with local suppliers and local governmental agencies.

Background Check Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
