U.S. Airgap Datacenter Operations (AGC DCOps) team has a sharp focus on serving our U.S. Government customers and helping them achieve federal missions. As the Senior Field Operations Integration Progam Manager on the AGC DCOps team, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s dedicated online services supporting the U.S. Government.

While our U.S. Government dedicated datacenter operations team has a sharp focus on serving our U.S. Government customers and helping them achieve federal missions, together, all of Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 160 datacenters hosting millions of servers. As the Senior Field Operations Integration Program Manager for AGC DCOps, you will be responsible for bringing various scopes and specialized subject matter areas together to seamlessly maximize safety, security, operability, availability, and efficiency in the end-to-end datacenter lifecycle. You will be the AGC DCOps voice and partner with peer groups across multiple organizations to drive an end-user mindset in datacenter design standards, construction, commissioning, facility quality and utilization, and be responsible for representing AGC DCOps in the programmatic onboarding of new facilities into the portfolio. You will also lead programs and projects dedicated to datacenter operational improvements.

Be at the forefront of the action in CO+I as part of our AGC DCOps team, the CO+I AGC organization, and the broader Microsoft AGC community.

As a Senior Field Operations Integration Program Manager, your responsibilities include:

  • Empower a culture of Safety, Security and Compliance in all aspects of Datacenter Operations.
  • Represent Field Operations needs and interests while new facilities are advancing through the datacenter end to end lifecycle, from site selection, to owning operational design and operability requirements, to commissioning and turnover, consistently ensuring the highest standards in workspace experience, quality, reliability, availability, and safety.
  • Create and enhance processes and standards to enable the successful onboarding and construction turnover to operations experience for newly launched facilities.
  • Conduct review of turnover documentations such as Operations & Maintenance (O&Ms), as-build and record drawings, permits, certificates, and warranty documents.
  • Collaborate with Datacenter Operations Managers and Regional Datacenter Directors to ensure operating procedures are documented accurately and that appropriate training and hand-offs are conducted during the onboarding process of new facilities with proper timing.
  • Support Engineering Team in facilitating inquiries that require input from Operations.
  • Propose, develop, and manage projects and programs to retrofit or modify, or to gain efficiency and improvements in existing operational facilities.
  • Be the individual responsible at program level to ensure scope and responsibilities are defined clearly amongst stakeholders.
  • Project manage and contribute to special projects with the intent to drive enhancements of focus areas such as quality, cost, resiliency, sustainability, risk, and scalability.  
  • Gather and produce lessons learned between Field Operations and peer teams related to Data Center Design and Construction and convert those to lessons applied.
  • Manage escalations and issues that may arise by partnering with peer organizations to ensure appropriate resolutions are sought and implemented, minimizing impact to service delivery and commissioning timelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 3+ years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology

    • OR 4+ years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.

  • 3+ years’ experience supporting critical facilities program/project management, or critical facilities construction experience, or other related experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience in the design, construction, and/or operation of high security facilities.

Background Check Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.
  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.   Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
    • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate, openly communicate, present, and negotiate effectively across groups of various levels and disciplines, such as government entities, senior company leaders, engineers, suppliers, partners, technicians, customers, etc.
  • Experience in leading, directly managing, and influencing a diverse organization of full-time employees, across multiple disciplines and platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering results with ambiguous and changing business requirements, with strong ability to work independently in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
  • Background in data center design, construction, and infrastructure operations and experience in planning and executing data center transformational programs.
  • Experience with design of next generation data center networks enabling cloud computing including technologies such as network virtualization, unified network fabric, and software defined networks.
  • A solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Awareness of IT Service Operations fundamentals and principles. (ITIL, MOF, OLA/SLA, CSI, etc.)
  • Project or program management experience and certification(s) (e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen, PMI, etc.)

Data Center Operations Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $125,400 - $224,500 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $166,000 - $249,000 per year.Learn more about base pay ranges and pay equity: https://careers.microsoft.com/us/en/us-corporate-pay
