Senior Director, Creative Studio & Brand Strategy - Microsoft

The Consumer Growth Engine & Integrated Marketing team is looking for an outstanding senior creative talent to lead its Creative Studio and Brand Strategy functions within the Brand Management team. These functions oversee brand and creative responsibilities for Microsoft’s core portfolio of consumer brands including Windows, Surface, Microsoft 365, Edge, and Bing. This leader will be responsible for driving holistic and impactful creative across all lines of business and engaging over 1B customers globally through modern and digital-first marketing channels and campaigns. 

The Senior Director, Creative Studio & Brand Strategy is responsible for leading and evolving Microsoft’s next generation digital creative capabilities with a focus on strategic storytelling rooted in brand truths. We are looking for a passionate creative leader, someone who can respectfully challenge Microsoft norms and encourage risk-taking, someone with big ideas and the ability to sell them into internal partners and execs. This candidate should exhibit strong collaboration skills to effectively work across multiple internal integrated marketing, product marketing, and engineering teams, and be exceptional at scaling from conceptual creative and brand strategy through to execution and ongoing management. This position will report to the GM of Brand Management. 

  • Lead a Creative Studio team of 6 FTEs and approximately 15 contractors to develop the foundational creative direction and content creation for integrated multichannel efforts, including campaigns, launches, seasons, events, demos, and ad hoc efforts. And lead a team of 4 FTEs responsible for brand strategy, architecture, and naming for Windows, Surface, Microsoft 365, and Edge. 
  • Supervise, coach, and inspire the team in developing strategically sound creative and messaging that supports full funnel and digital-first marketing and lead brand and product storytelling efforts grounded in audience and cultural insights that generate brand loyalty and brand love, supporting improved customer and partner outcomes.
  • Establish a vision and goals for an overarching brand architecture that enables the development and execution of brand strategies and guidelines across the consumer portfolio.
  • Serve as a brand champion for marketing and engineering teams, investing in education as well as evangelism, to build a brand-driven mindset.
  • Develop and nurture a strong customer-first and collaborative culture within Integrated Marketing and across key partner teams.
  • Foster ongoing relationships with agency and production partners to ensure we are optimized for best-in-class creative work.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 7+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 9+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 4+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years people management experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of creative experience which showcases innovation and advocacy for best-in-class creative work.
  • Industry recognition for creative or brand excellence and thought leadership.
  • Direct experience managing, coaching, and developing high performing and dynamic teams.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, creative agencies, and marketing budgets.
  • Experience leading creative work and brand strategy in an agency environment or at a consumer brand.

Integrated Marketing M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $152,300 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $194,800 - $292,200 per year.Learn more about base pay ranges and pay equity:
