What it is

LinkedIn Recruiter is the seat that unlocks search across LinkedIn’s whole member base instead of the slice a free account reaches. You get 40+ filters, saved projects, shared pipelines, team collaboration and auditing, and an InMail allowance LinkedIn’s own product page puts at 100–150 messages a month per seat. Recruiter Lite is the cut-down version for occasional hirers — 20 filters, third-degree reach, 30 InMails a month. Hiring Assistant, LinkedIn’s first agent, is a paid add-on on top of a Recruiter or RPS+ licence. It is not standalone and it is not bundled.

Recruiter matters to a buyer for a reason that has little to do with its feature list. It is the price line every AI sourcing tool is benchmarked against, and the one most TA budgets already carry. SeekOut, hireEZ and Juicebox all sell against a Recruiter seat, so the real question is rarely “Recruiter or not” — it is which sourcing work justifies a second licence beside it.

What Hiring Assistant actually does

Intake comes first. You describe the role and the agent asks follow-up questions to build a sourcing strategy rather than a keyword string. The 2026 Hiring Release added intake by candidate LinkedIn URL and explicit commute expectations, an updated sourcing model with better location detection, and mid-process controls — pause the agent, direct a specific action, or ask for help partway through. LinkedIn reports 16% more InMail accepts from the improved intake.

From there it runs searches, evaluates applicants from LinkedIn and a connected ATS, drafts personalized outreach, and pre-screens the people who reply. It does not schedule interviews, does not run them, and does not decide. LinkedIn’s published results — 81% fewer profiles reviewed to find a qualified match, 66% higher InMail acceptance, 1.5 hours saved per role on applicant review, and a 30-day time-to-hire reduction at Expedia Group — are vendor figures. Treat them as a ceiling, not a forecast.

Adoption is not marketing, though. On Microsoft’s FY26 Q3 earnings call the company said agentic products in LinkedIn Talent Solutions have already surpassed a $450 million annualized revenue run-rate, against LinkedIn revenue up 12% for the quarter.

Pricing reality

LinkedIn publishes no price for Recruiter in the US — the product page routes you to a consultant. But LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company files a rate card on the UK Government’s Digital Marketplace under G-Cloud 14, and that document is the only public per-seat ladder that exists.

Recruiter, per seat per year: £8,925 at 1–2 licences, £8,575 at 3–10, £8,150 at 11–30, £7,500 at 31–50, £7,150 at 51–100, £6,750 at 101–250, £6,350 at 251+. Hiring Assistant is a second per-seat line on top — £2,079 at 1–2 licences down to £1,575 at 101–250 — and the number of Hiring Assistant add-ons cannot exceed the number of Recruiter licences you hold. Job Slots price separately at £1,465 a job a year for 1–10 slots, falling to £710 at 501–1,000.

Two consequences. A five-recruiter team sits near the top of the ladder at roughly £43K a year for Recruiter alone, about £53K with Hiring Assistant on every seat. And the discount curve is shallow — 29% from the first rung to the last, arriving at a licence count most TA teams never reach. The promotional term in that same document, which granted Tier 2 agent capacity of 800 sourced and 9,000 evaluated candidates at the Tier 1 price, ran 1 October 2025 to 30 June 2026 and has closed.

Best for

TA leaders running 20 or more recruiters against continuous req volume, where reach into the professional graph is the deliverable and InMail is the channel that actually lands. For a founder filling four roles a year, Recruiter Lite is the honest tier and a full seat is waste.

Integrations

Recruiter System Connect decides whether Recruiter is a silo or part of your pipeline. It syncs InMail history, notes and candidate stage between Recruiter and the ATS; RSC+ links a LinkedIn hiring project to an ATS requisition so stages sync for Hiring Assistant. Availability follows partner tier — Greenhouse and Lever are Diamond partners; Bullhorn, Jobvite, SmartRecruiters, Workable and Oracle are Platinum; Avature, iCIMS Recruit, JazzHR and Workday Recruiting are Gold. Apply Connect posts jobs and routes applicant data into the ATS in real time, and the 2026 release ships it with Workday plus an ATS and CRM hub inside Recruiter Settings.

Direct API access is not on the table. Talent Solutions APIs are reachable only through LinkedIn’s partner program, on an approved application and a data-restriction agreement, and partner onboarding is measured in months.

Versus the alternatives

SeekOut and hireEZ are the two established alternatives, and both aggregate LinkedIn alongside GitHub, patent records and public profiles. Pick one over a second Recruiter seat when you need what Recruiter never hands you — a personal email or mobile number — or filters LinkedIn does not expose. Juicebox is the fastest-growing entrant and the right pick when the bottleneck is writing the query rather than the size of the pool, since natural-language search starts well below a Recruiter seat. SeekOut vs hireEZ settles the choice between the first two.

None of them replaces Recruiter outright, because none can send InMail. The realistic pattern is fewer Recruiter seats concentrated on the recruiters who message candidates, with a cheaper sourcing tool doing discovery for everyone else.

Watch-outs

  • Hiring Assistant is metered on candidates, not usage time. The published tiers count sourced and evaluated candidates, and capacity is what the tier buys. Guard: get the candidate capacity of your specific tier written into the order form, and track burn monthly rather than discovering the ceiling in Q3.
  • The seat ladder punishes small teams and barely rewards large ones. Guard: bring the G-Cloud rate card to the negotiation as the published anchor, and price a smaller number of Recruiter seats against a sourcing tool for the rest of the team before agreeing to seat parity with headcount.
  • Third-party LinkedIn automation runs against the terms of service. Anything that scripts Recruiter outside the documented surfaces risks the account, and LinkedIn enforced against automation vendors through 2026. Guard: restrict integration work to RSC, Apply Connect and the partner APIs, and reject vendor claims of “LinkedIn integration” that do not name one of them.
  • Your candidate history stays inside Recruiter unless the ATS is a partner. Notes, InMail threads and stage changes do not leave without RSC. Guard: confirm your ATS’s partner tier and RSC support before you sign, and treat a non-partner ATS as a decision to keep two systems of record.
